North Fulton County

 The Fulton County seat is Atlanta,the state capital of Georgia since 1868

Only 90% of the City of Atlanta is within Fulton County with the 10% within DeKalb County. Fulton County is one of the five core counties of the Atlanta metropolitan area and the most populous county State.

Most every major highway, and every major Interstate highway, in metro Atlanta passes through Fulton County. The MARTA train service in Fulton is currently limited to the cities of Atlanta, Sandy Springs, East Point, and College Park, as well as the airport.

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport straddles the border with Clayton County to the south and is the busiest airport in the world. The much smaller Charlie Brown Field serves business jets and private aircraft.

Fulton County is called home to many corporate headwaters including AT&T Mobility, Chick-fil-A, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Church’s Chicken, AFC Enterprises (Popeyes Chicken/Cinnabon), Delta Air Lines, Earthlink, Equifax, First Data, Georgia-Pacific, Global Payments, Inc., The Home Depot, Southern Company, Spectrum Brands, SunTrust Banks, United Parcel Service,  Wendy’s/Arby’s Group,  The Coca Cola Company, Cox Enterprises, , InterContinental Hotels Group, IBM Internet Security Systems, Mirant Corp., Newell Rubbermaid, Northside Hospital, Porsche Cars North America, Saint Joseph’s Hospital,

As of the censusof 2000, there were 816,006 people, 321,242 households, and 185,677 families residing in the county. The population density was 1,544 people per square mile. There were 348,632 housing units.

The Fulton County School System serves all portions of Fulton County outside of the city limits of Atlanta.
