that lost it’s wheel years ago and spilled all of it’s contents on the ground. The contents were reloaded back on the train once it had been fixed, with the exception of a couple bags of sugar that spilled on the hill …. hence the name “Sugar Hill”.
Incorporated more than six decades ago the City of Sugar Hill, Georgia, has become one of the premier communities of the Atlanta Metro area. Sugar Hill, Georgia’s leaders have listened to their residents for many decades and have responded to many requests, park expansions for instance and the creation of sidewalks. The improvements continue to this day.
The areas surrounding Sugar Hill also have some of the finest retail shopping centers including The Mall of Georgia, Discover Mills and Gwinnett Place Mall.

As of 2010 Sugar Hill had a population of 18,522. There were 4,004 households out of which 44.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them. The county operates Gwinnett County Public Schools.
