The city of Dacula straddles Winder Highway and the CSX railroad line,

known for its Memorial Day parade and Little Mulberry Park.  The name “Dacula” is properly pronounced “duh-KYOO-luh” but was originally called Hokeville after a Seaboard Airline Railway executive, but the railroad’s protested and it was changed.

The newly renovated 51 acre Dacula Park hosts an outdoor pool, a freestanding football field, six softball/baseball fields and a sand volleyball court. There is also a picnic pavilion, two playgrounds, a 1.4 mile multi – purpose trail.

The Dacula real estate market in consists of single family detached homes both in small quaint communities and in larger communities that boast their own swim-tennis facilities. Dacula is also home to two very popular Golf and Country Club Communities, Apalachee Farms and Hamilton Mill.

As of 2010 Dacula had a population of 4,442. There were 1,283 households out of which 44.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them. The county operates Gwinnett County Public Schools.
