The City of Woodstock in Cherokee County is today the fastest growing city in Cherokee County.

Interstate 575 and State Highway 92 runs diagonally, directly through the heart of the City. In 2007 it was the tenth fastest-growing suburb in the United States.

Although the first settlers called their new home Woodstock, the community with a population of 300, would not become an official city until 1897 when the railroad arrived and the train depot was built. Historic homes built a century ago line Main Street. Some are home to descendants of the original owners, while others have been renovated for thriving businesses.

There are many beautiful subdivisions to choose from in Woodstock, with neighborhoods including Towne Lake, Bradshaw Farm, Eagle Watch, Towne Lake Hills, Deer Run, The Arbors and The Woodlands.

The abundance of water power around Woodstock, such as Little River, Noonday Creek, and other streams, facilitated gristmills, wood carving, yarn spinning and other related activities. The old Kellogg Gold Mine and several others are within a few miles of Woodstock. Mica and kaolin were also found in nearby areas.  By the 1890s Woodstock was said to be shipping 2,000 bales of cotton annually.

Woodstock had a population of 23,896 at the 2010 census, with 9,580 households, and 6,137 families residing in the city.
